Introduction to Opera
Explore the world of Opera in this fun and energetic introduction to Opera class. With the fabulously talented Rita Demaria, a spinto soprano who hails from Bologna Italy, students will learn about the various sights and sounds to be experienced at an opera while touching on vocal and breathing techniques, core repertoire and performance skills. “Singing is one of the most empowering skills one may ever develop. But, like every skill, it needs a good foundation. During this class, we will learn the basics of breathing, how to use autogenic training in order to fight stage fright...” Have fun learning about this exciting and beautiful art form, a rare opportunity for children in Donegal, not to be missed!
Music from the Edge of the Amazon
Venture up the Amazon River into the rain forest to create songs based on the wondrous creatures, sounds, music, rhythms and chants found there. Play some unusual instruments, drums and folkloric rhythms, working together to create a tropical, magical soundscape. The focus will be on ensemble playing, rhythms, sound textures and fun to produce a unique musical experience for players at all levels.
Handbells
In this latest addition to the summer school, children of any age and ability will be able to take part in a musical ensemble, where they will learn to perform a fun and exciting piece as a united group. We are delighted to bring back Musical Theatre to our options this year as it was a great success last year. This class will explore movement and expression through song through the medium of some modern and classic Music Theatre works. The culmination of our work will be a mash-up performance of many of these works which will be explored throughout the week. Join

Teenage Kicks with Declan McClafferty
Collaboration at its finest, for students aged 13+, students will be grouped into sections of "the band" and will get to use their skills to perform an exciting piece with the talented

Donegal Pops
Donegal Pops is our summer school orchestra, made up of a colourful blend of strings, wind, brass and a rhythm section. Our new tutor, the very talented
Sarah Ponsonby, will give students a chance to play popular songs as well as themes from stage and screen or rock out to some metal. Hear some well known songs come to life with the thrilling sound of an orchestra.
